I am an “out-of-network” provider, which means I do not work directly with insurance companies. Full payment for services is made to Beneath the Surface Therapy.

If your insurance plan has out-of-network benefits, I can provide a “Superbill,” which can be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Once deductibles are met, many of my clients receive a reimbursement rate of 30-80% per session fee

Do you accept insurance?

Beneath the Surface therapy is a 100% virtual practice. All sessions are only offered via a HIPAA-compliant video platform.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • If you are an existing active client and experiencing a dangerous or life-threatening emergency, whether psychiatric or medical, please call 9-1-1 immediately and go to your nearest hospital or emergency services. **Please note:** Beneath the Surface Therapy does not provide 24/7 on-call services, inpatient care, or acute outpatient treatment.
  • Afterward, you can provide our contact information to the care facility or point of contact so that we can coordinate care with you and those involved. We can also work with you to create a safety plan to reduce acute distress.
  • Therefore, if you are currently undergoing recovery for long-term substance use issues, recent or frequent hospitalization, or severe mental health symptoms, our office setting and availability may not be the best fit for your treatment needs and goals. However, we can provide referrals to more appropriate providers who can better address your needs.

What happens if I have an emergency?

Or course! While our primary focus is on the mental wellness of BIPOC millennial women, the original mission of Beneath the Surface was to destigmatize mental health and provide access to quality care. We emphasize BIPOC millennial women or boss babes because we acknowledge that there few therapy spaces curated with this population in mind. We welcome and provide services to individuals of all backgrounds. We aim to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where everyone can access the mental health support they need. If you have specific concerns or needs, please don't hesitate to reach out for a consultation to ensure that Beneath the Surface is a good fit for you and your needs.

I don’t identify as a BIPOC millenial woman or boss babe. Will you still work with me?

The best way to know if your insurance plan has out-of-network benefits is to reach out to your provider directly. The following questions could be useful when reaching out to your insurance provider:

  • Do I have out-of-network behavioral health (mental health) benefits?
  • Do I need prior authorization in order to submit reimbursement documents?
  • Are there a specific number of sessions my out-of-network benefits cover?
  • What is my annual out-of-network deductible?
  • Have I met that deductible?
