While we will still service a diverse population of clients, we want to ensure that BIPOC women understand that this space was curated with them in mind. About Kortnie

Kortnie is a licensed professional counselor, clinical supervisor, and 3rd-year Counseling Education and Supervision PhD student. She founded Beneath the Surface to increase visibility for black women in mental health and destigmatize care within the BIPOC community. Inspired by her experiences, her clinical focus is serving millennial high-achieving and performing BIPOC women. She helps address “high” functioning anxiety, “high” functioning depression, life transitions, self-discovery/ identity journey, work-life balance, and relational concerns. By providing a safe space to embrace vulnerability, her clients can uncover hidden wounds, heal, and thrive! Her integrative relational approach is grounded in evidence-based, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed practices. This approach prioritizes the therapeutic relationship and your story, acknowledges the systems you navigate, and advances your healing journey tailored to your unique experiences.
